The History of TN Chamber
The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TN Chamber), established in 1924 in Madurai, proudly celebrates its centenary year in 2024. With a century of dedication to serving the interests of trade and industry, the Chamber has been a cornerstone for economic growth and development in Tamil Nadu.​

Starting with just 24 members, the TN Chamber has grown into one of the largest and most influential chambers in India, boasting over 7,000 members and numerous affiliated bodies.
​
The Chamber has had a profound impact over the decades, with past presidents contributing significantly to its growth. Notable past presidents include Mr. S. Gurunathan, Mr. K. P. Kandasamy and Mr. S. Rethinavelu, who helped shape the Chamber's policies and initiatives, leaving a lasting legacy.

Visit of High Dignitaries
The Chamber had been visited in the past by many High Dignitaries including His Excellency the President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prime Ministers Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and Srimathi Indira Gandhi, Vice-President Hon’ble Shri R. Venkataraman

Certificate of Origin
The Chamber issues Certificate of Origin to exporters in respect of goods exported from India. Chamber is one among few important Chambers of Commerce in the country authorized by the Government of India for this purpose.

Public Welfare Activities
The Chamber sold tickets to the tune of Rs. 25,40,900/- for the Mega Star Nite organized by the Corporate & Business Community, Cine Field and Cricket fraternity and held at Madurai on 11th July 1999 to raise funds for Kargil Relief Fund
