Chamber’s active role in “MaaMadurai Potruvom” celebration

“Maa Madurai Potruvom”, the first edition of the three day cultural festival to glorify the uniqueness of Madurai the cultural capital of Tamilnadu was held at Madurai between 8th and 10th February 2013. The object of event was to make people aware of Madurai’s rich tradition, heritage, antiquity, history and culture. Marathon, Symposium, Workshop, Carnival, Heritage Tour and Competitions were organized as part of the celebration. Chamber Former President Thiru S. Rethinavelu was nominated as Chairman, Thiru N. Jegatheesan, Chamber President and Thiru V. Neethimohan former President and Chairman of YES as members of the Carnival Sub-committee of the cultural festival. The Carnival procession, conducted as a part of “Maa Madurai Potruvom”, was held on 09th February 2013 and it was flagged off by Shri K. Rosaiah, His Excellency, the Governor of Tamilnadu at Madura College grounds. 36 different forms of dance were performed at the Carnival. People were enthralled by watching the tableaux on the antiquity and rich history of the Madurai. The Carnival ended at Tamukkam Grounds. Young Entrepreneur School (YES) of our Chamber meticulously planned and extended their devoted co ordination work for the success of the Carnival. Our Chamber was instrumental in collecting funds from the industrial captains of Tamilnadu for the celebration. The office

bearers of our Chamber also took part in the event.
